William Walter Wurtzler Obituary
Wurtzler, William "Bill"
William "Bill" Wurtzler, age 75, of Lisle, Ill., passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009. He was born to Walter and Pearl Wurtzler, in 1934, in Watertown. Bill was a 1952 graduate of Madison East High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1952 until 1954. Bill attended Colorado State University. He returned to Wisconsin and worked as a City of Madison police officer from 1957 until 1963, then entered into the insurance industry. Bill retired from Christian Brothers in 2009. Through his insurance work, Bill was able to serve the Catholic church, which he loved. This was a motivating factor for the longevity of his career. Bill was a third degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was instrumental in starting the Monona Pee Wee Football program, a program that is still active today and in which he coached for many years. Bill was always interested in helping the youth. He was a great husband, dad, grandpa and coach. Bill attended his children's sporting events and was always giving pointers in how to improve. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with his family, to whom he was very devoted. A true "family man." Bill married Kathleen Hillier in 1959, the love of his life. They recently celebrated their 50th anniversary in August 2009. Bill is survived by his wife, Kathleen; children, Walter (Tracy) Wurtzler, Rita (Tom) Bramley and Kelly Wurtzler; grandchildren, Stephanie, Sheri and Erin Wurtzler, Jonathon Wurtzler and Amy Bramley; sister, Beverly (Don) Syvrud; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ANNS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 323 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, with Monsignor Gerard M. Healy presiding. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009. Many thanks to Bill's friends, especially Andy Kopon and Mike Airdo. Thanks to all the nurses and staff at Alexian Brothers Medical Center. A special thanks to Dr. Johnson and Dr. Sullivan, who helped Bill have a much longer time here with his family. "So long, we will all be together again someday."
